The Media Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing media strategies that enhance Quad's brand positioning, generate awareness about the company’s breadth of offerings and solutions, and support our business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive media relations strategies aligned with Quad's business, Marketing and Communications goals.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, including journalists, editors, and industry influencers.
- Lead day-to-day engagements with PR agency teams, including clearly communicating company objectives and goals, liaising with spokespeople, aligning expectations for outcomes, overseeing story development and pitches, leading internal approval processes, following up and socializing results.
- Write and distribute compelling press releases, op-eds / bylines and other communications materials.
- Collaborate with other Quad teams to identify and develop newsworthy stories about the company’s innovations, achievements, and thought leadership.
- Pitch stories to reporters and respond promptly to inbound media inquiries and opportunities. Arrange interviews with company spokepeople.
- Prepare and coach company executives for media interviews and public speaking engagements.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare regular reports on media activities and their impact.
- Help manage crisis communications as needed, working closely with leadership to develop appropriate responses.
- Organize and oversee media events and facility tours.
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for Quad to join relevant conversations.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of media relations efforts using appropriate metrics and analytics tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in media relations, preferably in the marketing, technology, or print industries or in an agency environment
- Ability to consistently uncover newsworthy story ideas and generate a pipeline of media relations possibilities for Quad
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (writing samples requested)
- Strong network of media contacts and demonstrated ability to build relationships with reporters
- Ability to spot and respond quickly to general news trends where Quad can offer expert commentary / thought leadership
- Experience building influence, relationships and trust in large, complex organizations
- Proficiency in media monitoring and analytics tools
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented project management skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and their role in media relations
