Apply Location United States Job Category Information Technology Business Unit (brand) Quad Date posted 09/30/2024 Job ID 31192As a Senior IT Systems Engineer specializing in in-store retail media, you will lead the design, specification, and documentation, and support of Digital Signage solutions for our in-store retail media platforms. Your expertise will ensure that Quad’s Digital Signage IT infrastructure and Systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with the dynamic needs of the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Engineer Wired/Wireless IT Systems tailored for in-store retail environments, focusing on standardization, performance, flexibility, cost and scalability.
- Develop wireless network solutions, including access point placement, channel optimization, and security configurations to ensure seamless connectivity and coverage.
- Configure and manage network devices such as cellular modems, routers, switches, & access points for mobile and standalone retail locations, ensuring reliability and performance in both fixed install and demo scenarios.
- Draft detailed technical specifications and documentation for Quad’s In-Store IT systems, including Floorplan WLAN Coverage Areas, Wiring Diagrams, IP schemas, Security Protocols, Remote Access Criteria, Technical Support Guides, ensuring clarity and adherence to industry standards.
- Conduct antenna range testing and optimization to maximize wireless coverage and signal strength.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot, perform firmware updates, and provide 3rd Tier Support to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IT Network infrastructure with other systems and applications.
- Research, evaluate, and create test reports on new hardware solutions as part of new design initiatives for consideration of introducing new products/system designs into Quad’s portfolio.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality hardware components.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in retail hardware systems that could impact or enhance in-store media solutions.
Job Requirements & Skills:
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
- Proven experience as a network engineer or similar role, with expertise in LAN/WAN design, wireless networking, and network security.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching technologies.
- Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, etc.
- Knowledge of cellular modem technologies, including configuration, troubleshooting, and design considerations for primary connectivity in mobile and standalone retail locations.
- Experience in antenna range testing and optimization to maximize wireless coverage and signal strength.
- Familiarity with cloud management platforms for network devices, including Cisco Meraki, Teltonika RMS, Cradlepoint NetCloud, etc.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving skills, & attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Excellent technical documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in network automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Understanding of retail industry requirements and trends in network infrastructure.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in IT engineering, System design, Network design, or a related field with significant exposure to retail or consumer-facing technologies.
- Proven track record of successful hardware deployment projects.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required.
