Industrial Fleet Maintenance/Forklift Mechanic

Quad is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Fork Truck Mechanic for The Lomira, WI  location.  This is a daytime position, either 5, 8 hour days or 4, 10 hour days.   The wage range for the position is $24.00 - $35.00 / hour depending on experience. 

The Forklift Mechanic repairs, maintains, tests, and overhauls a forklift's mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic components to keep equipment in safe operating condition. The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for every system on the equipment worked on, and will perform repairs on a wide range of equipment, the models and brands of which change often.

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a forklift mechanic or in a related position, or equivalent forklift repair training.

Job Duties:

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on Industrial Forklifts, Electric Carts, Pallet Jacks, Boom Lifts, Scissor Lifts, and various other types of equipment and automobiles to keep equipment in optimal operating condition.
  • Communicates accurately & professionally with various departments on needs.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace mechanical and electrical system parts and components.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems for proper performance.
  • Diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment and documentation, and determine remedies.
  • Requisition parts.
  • Consult with manufacturers and distributors regarding equipment, parts, and technical data.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle history within the company computer systems.
  • Work with internal customers to solicit information about equipment needs/problems, repairs, equipment downtime, and maintenance solutions.
  • Consult with other mechanics and technical experts regarding difficult problems to gain insight into troubleshooting methods, parts, and procedures.

Knowledge/Skill/Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to operate forklift, boom lifts, scissor lifts and other Industrial Equipment. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and shop manuals.
  • Must have a working knowledge of electronics due to the increasing use of electronic components in this area.
  • Must be thorough, detail-oriented, and demonstrate problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be flexible, adapt quickly to new situations and new problems, and be able to pick up new information quickly.
  • Must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour shift with additional hours as needed.
  • Must be comfortable using a PC.
  • Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

Experience Required:

  • Strong electrical and troubleshooting knowledge and experience in control wiring and DC motor controls.  
  • Must have experience working with hand tools, welding, soldering, and brazing equipment used in the trade.
  • Must have experience using computerized and electronic diagnostic systems and equipment.
  • Previous experience with maintenance software is a plus.
