Catalog Marketing Circulation Planner (Strategy and Campaign Analytics)

General Purpose of Job:
The Catalog Marketing Circulation Planner plays a critical role in the strategic planning, execution, and analysis of catalog marketing initiatives. This role is responsible for circulation strategy, list acquisition, customer segmentation, campaign execution, and post-campaign analysis. The ideal candidate should have a customer-first and data-driven approach, leveraging analytics to optimize customer retention, acquisition, and engagement.

This role requires collaboration across multiple teams, strong leadership skills, and expertise in direct mail marketing, CRM solutions, and campaign analysis. The Catalog Marketing Circulation Planner will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of data scientists, strategists, business owners and our customers to drive catalog performance, enhance efficiency, and maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities: 
Circulation Planning & Campaign Execution
•    Develop and execute strategic catalog circulation plans to drive customer retention and new customer acquisition.
•    Optimize circulation strategy based on segmentation, personalization, and testing.
•    Plan and implement list acquisition strategies to enhance audience reach.
•    Oversee database management, including merge/purge and data hygiene services.
•    Conduct A/B testing for catalog hold-out and frequency optimization.
•    Manage the print and direct mail calendar, ensuring timely execution.
Analytics, Reporting & Optimization
•    Perform campaign analysis to track catalog performance and ROI.
•    Provide weekly, monthly, and end-of-cycle reports with insights and recommendations.
•    Conduct customer segmentation analysis to optimize targeting and personalization.
•    Utilize CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., IBM/Unica) for enhanced campaign execution.
•    Monitor customer behavior trends to refine circulation strategies.
•    Prepare forecasting models for catalog-driven revenue and ad cost budgets.
Vendor & Budget Management
•    Manage relationships with printers, data vendors, co-op partners, and list providers.
•    Oversee vendor negotiations for list rentals, data services, and production support.
•    Monitor and track ad cost budgets, invoice approvals, and financial performance.
•    Coordinate print and USPS promotions to optimize mailing costs and impact.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
•    Provide guidance, training, and performance management to team members.
•    Work cross-functionally with creative, e-commerce, and sales teams to align catalog marketing with broader business strategies.
•    Collaborate with in-house and co-op database teams and other vendors to enhance customer modeling and targeting.

Job Requirements: 
Education:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.


Experience: 
•    8-10 years of experience in catalog marketing and circulation strategy, planning and analytics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•    Proven track record of developing and executing successful direct mail marketing campaigns.
•    Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
•    Strong expertise in customer segmentation, list acquisition, and CRM tools.
•    Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics.
•    Knowledge of direct mail production, database management, and campaign budgeting.
